“Jazz & Dance” Collection by Maya Green
When Maya Green paints the colors sing; and anyone hearing them is instantly entranced.
In her new collection “Jazz & Dance” music is present in every masterful stroke of the bold, vivid oils of Maya’s palette.
Inspired by the eloquence of jazz and the passion of dance, each piece in this collection is powerfully evocative of her favorite music. From the moody blues and fiery oranges of “Bluegrass Music” to the dramatic, crashing reds and yellows of “High Note”: Maya’s love for music as an art form comes through loud and clear.
“Jazz & Dance” collectively captures musical emotion in Maya’s inimitable style; making sure that viewers feel its resonance. She says: “I want them to smell the fragrance in the air, hear the melody and clattering shoes of dancers….enjoy the music of my paintings.” This desire is achieved with brilliance and panache, no viewer is left unmoved by the incredible intensity of Maya’s expression and colors.
This passion for sharing her experience of music is borne of a spiritual appreciation of fellow artistes. Maya says: “Musicians are spiritually close to me…they share their emotions through sounds… as I share them through my art pieces.” This collection is her tribute to the work of musicians who have inspired her through their art. It is Maya’s great gift that she is able to translate into bold vivid color the dynamics of music.
Maya, a native of Ukraine, has been fascinated with music for as long as she has been fascinated with color and light. For her they are both part of existence, and she cannot imagine her life without either of them. This collection is a beautifully natural fusion of the two most sensuous forms of expression, exquisitely executed.
And for Maya, art is the most natural way to enhance life. She says: “I’m an artist because it’s my nature and, in a certain way, my instinct; I can’t live the other way.” She believes it is impossible to teach art, because it is an intangible ability and either exists within the artist or not.
“Jazz & Dance” is a culmination of Maya’s belief in the healing power of art and music, and the positive energy it transmits. She hopes that when people look at her paintings they feel happier and kinder.
And there is no doubt that Maya’s incredible touch is felt by all who see her work; bringing light and color into their hearts for a moment. With this powerful collection she goes one further, and compels them to hum a little tune too.
